The American Clock Company of Chicago is the resulting company form the merger of The Automatic Electric
Clock Company, Kansas City and the United States Pneumatic Clock Company of Chicago on or about 1901. The movement is that
of Fred I Getty of Chicago via patent # 637,454 dated Nov 21,1899 and further assigned to The Automatic Electric Clock Company,
of Kansas City, Missouri. They have unusual double weighted arm movements that were actuated one after the other retaining
power to the system at all times. The suspension springs and pendulum connection are unlike any other that I know of in the
early electrics. They are very good clocks but suffer from the same malady of most early electrics that there contacts could
burn or get dirty. They were set up to run on two # 6 batteries or 3 volts.

cherry-cased clock was made by the Automatic Electric Clock Co. that combined with The United States Pneumatic Clock Co of
Chicago to become The American Clock Co. in 1901. The movement has one patent date Nov. 21, 1899 and a serial number of A
1098.

This is an American Clock Company in a Oak case that
looks like a Sohm Electric Clock Company case. The same Case makers made case for Americcan, Automatic and Sohm clock companies
during this period and all were made in Chicago. The Movement has both the 1899 and 1900 patatent dates and is serial number
B 11074.
