American Reminder Clock Company
93 State Street
Binghamton, New York
This is an American Reminder Clock Company, Binghamton, New York, Patented Jan. 24, 1888 and March 17, 1895. This clock is marked in two different places Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad and the # 431-3 and it works by placing a metal peg in the whole that corresponds with the time you want the bell to ring. The patents say that they were used in liveries, hotels or where a reminder is required and uses a 15 day double spring Seth Thomas # 50 movement, marked both Seth Thomas and Baird Clock Co. Plattsburg, NY. The American Reminder Clock Company was incorporated in Binghamton New York on November 12, 1902 with a capitalization of $20,000 and the investors were Harlow Bundy, John Deubur and Alvin McCrary. At the same time Harlow Bundy retained the position of Secretary and General Manager of the International Time Recorder Company which was the successor to the Bundy Manufacturing Company of Binghamton New York. Several identical clocks have been found with the same label but the Binghamton New York was replaced with Chicago Il. This clock resembles a clock made by Andrew Van Strait of Sidney New York. The International Time Recorder relocated to Endicott, New York about 12 miles west of Binghamton New York. If you have any infromation about these clocks or pictures of other examples, it would be greatly appreciated if you would email same to Rareclock@aol.com.
